Coalition Against Poverty in Suffolk

Provides bill and housing assistance, the Nightstay program, and referrals for local people in need.

CAPS networks with local agencies and churches in order to provide more comprehensive assistance. Clients are connected to homeless shelters, food pantries, transportation services, counseling, or legal assistance depending on their needs.

Current Needs for CAPS

  • Furniture Ministry: Help deliver donated furniture to families moving into permanent housing. Call Sohn McGough at 757-582-2660 or email furniture@capsuffolk.org to help with the next furniture delivery.


  • Night Stay: Provide meals and overnight supervision to guests staying in area churches. Contact Jan Pruden at jpruden@capsuffolk.com
